three facts of rotating machinery

The three facts of rotating machinery are:
1. All machines vibrate
2. An increase in vibration suggests a developing fault
3. Each rotating element generates its own unique vibration signal
What do these three facts and condition management solutions mean to the plant manager?

PEME Condition Register

PEME Condition Register

The effective use of a good predictive maintenance strategy is essential in prolonging the operational life of equipment and through proper application we can offer your maintenance department high levels of efficiency and effectiveness.
All machines give early warning signs of potential failures and with the correct application of Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) techniques such as vibration analysis, lubrication analysis, thermography and ultrasonics, we can provide you with the necessary failure trending and information needed to make strategic decisions that best suits your organisation.
PEME uses Condition Based Monitoring techniques to help determine the condition of in-service equipment in order to predict when plant maintenance should be performed.
The CBM analysis results are held in a central location in the PEME Condition Register (PCR). The PCR is a unique service provided to our plant maintenance partners free-of-charge.
The PCR holds reports from the CBM tasks carried out on your engineering assets and provides you with remote access to view the up-to-date information on your assets including the current severity of the equipment (a traffic light system is used). Automated reports are generated following routine data capture and analysis and alert e-mails are generated to e-mail addresses nominated by you to highlight the need for further investigation.
The PEME Condition Register (PCR) provides a significant step towards effective engineering asset management and implementation of a world-class plant maintenance regime.

I read this in CM fourm -

As Condition Monitoring manager, my job is to

Tools, Training, Time

Give them Tools, Time & Training. If you don't have all of these your guys (and gals) probably won't be as successful as you need to be in todays environment. Tools-the right equipment and support organization, time-to do their job and learn, training-the only way to build a foundation and keep current. Oh yeah protect them from the bean counters and beaurocrats....
